WHAT: The Inaugural Delta Gamma Lambda Foundation Theodore M Berry Beautillion and Scholarship Gala provides financial support for programs and community service activities of Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

EVENT: A gala introducing and honoring the achievements of outstanding African-American male high school students and recognizing community leaders who focus on youth.

WHEN: May 23, 2009
6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. - Reception
6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Program Dinner
9:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. - Social & Dancing

WHERE: Savannah Center

WHY: The nurturing of the male seed is critical to ensuring their success in our society. The Beautillion program was designed to aid in the transition of high school to college. It is our reverent intent that programs of the Beautillion will leave footprints in the lives of the beaux who participate. The Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., through its Foundation, has provided financial incentives to college-bound men for the past ten years through this innovative program called the Delta Gamma Lambda Beautillion.

GOALS: The goal of the program is to provide individual mentoring and leadership training for its participants through programs, which emphasize scholarship, manly deeds, and love for all mankind. The Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter has long been a strong catalyst for social change in our community. The Delta Gamma Lambda Chapter was chartered in the Greater Cincinnati in 1947. It has been a beacon for over 60 years in the metropolitan area and nationwide.

ABOUT PRESTON WATSON: Preston is a beaux in the 2009 Theodore M. Berry Scholarship Gala. Preston is a Senior at Northwest High School. He is a member of the Varsity Boys Basketball team which Preston has played the last 2 years. In his spare time Preston is a member of the Alpha Esquires youth program where he's been a member of 4 years. Preston attends Crossroads Baptist Church and is parented by Valerie Watson.

ABOUT HAKEEM MCGEE: Hakeem is a host in the 2009 Theodore M. Berry Scholarship Gala. Hakeem is an 8th grader attending Cincinnati Country Day School. He plays basketball and baseball for the school. Hakeem is the boys' representative for his class of fifty-four in the CCD Honor Council. Hakeem's other activities include playing the violin, volunteering for the Cincinnati Museum Center, and playing sports. Hakeem attends Inspirational Baptist Church and is parented by Greg and Lisa McGee.
